The Westwood Community Chest (WCC) is adding a touch of magic to its community calendar with a brand-new family event on Saturday, November 23 that is sure to bring fun to kids and adults alike. Award-winning entertainer Bonaparté the Magician will take the stage at the Pine Hill School Auditorium, with doors opening at 10 a.m.
Bonaparté is a familiar face in Westwood, having performed two popular shows for the former Deerfield School – including a virtual performance during the COVID pandemic. He is known for his interactive shows that feature a lively mix of illusion, comedy, and audience participation.
The show is sponsored by Needham Bank, a long-time supporter of WCC and the presenting sponsor of Luminary Night, which takes place on December 7. Luminary Night is an annual tradition that lights up Westwood neighborhoods with candlelit displays symbolizing unity and hope.
“We’re really excited to host an event that appeals to kids and introduces more families to the important work we do to help Westwood residents in need,” said Brooke Brown, WCC Board Member. “This also provides a great opportunity to raise awareness of our upcoming fundraising initiatives like Luminary Night and the Annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors Campaign.”
Tickets for the show are $30 per family, which includes admission and one Luminary Night Kit. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.westwoodcommunitychest.org/magicshow, or at the door. Additional Luminary Kits will be available for $20 each at the event or online at www.westwoodcommunitychest.org/luminary-night-2025/.

The Select Board has no one to blame but themselves for what has transpired the past two days.
337 people showed up on a cold February night to vote against a non-binding resolution.
Yes, they did.
And this attendance and participation demonstrates how strongly folks on both sides of this issue feel about it, and how a majority of voters want the Select Board to withdraw from the lawsuit. It was a far larger turnout than in annual town meetings.
It is false to assume a large majority of voters want the Select Board to withdraw. You can only say that the majority who showed up wanted to say that. According to Google AI, the average turnout at annual town meetings is 3.9% from 2018-2025, this was 4.6%.
