Thanks to First Baptist Church of Westwood for sharing its news with Westwood Minute.

The Westwood Ringers are happy to announce that they will be presenting their first live concert since 2019 on Sunday afternoon, December 19, at 4:00 p.m. The free holiday concert will be held in Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church at 808 High Street in Westwood.

Peter de Reyna, director of the handbell choir, says that the Ringers are thrilled to be performing for a real audience again. Suitable for the whole family, the program will feature a variety of Christmas favorites, both old and new, and will run approximately 50 minutes.

Attendees should note that masks must be worn at all times in the church buildings, and social distancing is strongly encouraged.

The Westwood Ringers started as a youth group in 1965 and their composition has gradually changed as time has gone by. There are currently fourteen Ringers including their director. All are adults, although they span a wide range of ages. They are not necessarily members of the First Baptist Church, nor do they all live in Westwood. Whether they have been ringing for just a few years or since they were teenagers, what they all have in common is that they enjoy ringing handbells. The Ringers have gradually increased the number of their instruments over the years, and today they ring five complete octaves of bells as well as five octaves of hand chimes.
