On Sunday, May 1, 2022, Westwood Girl Scout troops, Westwood Community Chest, Westwood’s Council on Aging, and Westwood middle school Boy Scouts will gather together on the front lawn of the Senior Center for community betterment activities in what is being called “Westwood Service Day.”
"We are hoping for a fun filled day of service, collaboration and inclusion," notes event organizer Ms. Aketa Narang Kapur.
Between 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., participants from the Scouts and Westwood Community Chest will plant flowers and paint kindness rocks for the Senior Center garden, assemble craft kits for children in homeless shelters, and help address isolation among seniors with a card making activity.
The Boy Scouts will be hosting a car wash. Members of the general public are invited to support their service project by stopping by the Senior Center. The reward for a visit of a few minutes will be leaving with a clean car. All car wash donations will go to support Westwood Community Chest.
An ice cream truck is scheduled to bring some welcome cheer to the event between 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. In the event of rain, activities will start with ice cream at 12:30 p.m., after which service projects will take place inside the Senior Center.
