As a result of a recent Westwood Police investigation, Westwood Police recently charged a 17 year-old male from Canton with assault and battery for striking an employee of the Gables University Station Apartments.

In the early evening of March 23, 2022, police were dispatched to Gables University Station Apartments on reports of a disturbance caused by a group of juveniles. A maintenance worker had observed a group of male and female juveniles whom he judged to be around 14 to 15 years old on the roof of the apartment building. Later investigation showed that the teens were aged 15, 16, and 17 years of age. One of the juveniles – the 17 year-old being charged - struck the worker with a closed fist.

The maintenance worker showed police pictures he had taken of the group, and police were able to locate them in the University Station parking lot outside Del Frisco’s Grille. The group included juveniles from Norwood, Canton, Dedham and Westwood.

Members of the group are also alleged to have damaged a fence on the apartment building’s property. One or more members of the group will potentially be obligated to perform restitution for the damaged fence.
