Westwood Girls Lacrosse defeated Wellesley in the Division 1 State Final at Babson College in Wellesley, on Monday, June 21, 2022 with a score of 16-1!
The Wolverines repeat the accomplishment of last year when they won the state final against Franklin. Although last year was not the first for Westwood Girls Lacrosse to earn the state title, it was the first time the team won the state title with Coach Margot Spatola at the helm.
Coach Spatola succeeded Leslie Frank, who led the Wolverines to eight Division 1 state championships in eighteen seasons.
Shortly after the 2021 final, Coach Spatola had already identified the motivation for a repeat as division champs in 2022.“The motivation will be to show that we belong here," she said.
After Monday's dominating win, let there be no doubt. It does looks like you belong on top, Westwood Girls Lacrosse!

Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
What is the citizen's petition about? I checked the town website, and the only information I could find on town meeting articles was from last year. The public hearing dates for 2026 are posted as February 24-25.
Apparently, you need to submit a public records request through the town's FOIA portal. What a shame, since it should have been posted to the town website upon certification of petition signatures.
Westwood Minute has obtained a copy of the petition and has added a short description of it to the article. A copy of the petition is attached below the article.
