Dear Friends & Neighbors,

I am excited to announce that I am running for a seat on the Westwood Select Board. I am reaching out to you, my friends and community leaders, asking for your support and endorsement in this endeavor. More importantly, I would like to hear your concerns and suggestions - listening is one of my top priorities both as a candidate, and as a member of the Select Board.

I was born and raised in Westwood, and I attended the Westwood Public Schools. My wife Christine and I have two grown sons who also attended the Westwood Schools. My family has been actively engaged in our town for many years. We have served on boards/committees, participated in sports, and have volunteered our time in the community.

I have worked in both the public and private sectors. I served as a member of the Westwood Fire Department for 11 years, and I grew to appreciate caring for the sick and injured. I found this work so fulfilling that I returned to school and received my degree in Respiratory Therapy. I worked at several academic hospitals in various leadership positions, and recently retired as the Director of Respiratory Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

I have also served on many committees, such as the Conservation Committee (18 years), Organization for the Preservation of Environment and Nature (OPEN) (4 years), Westwoodโ€™s Comprehensive Planning Committee (twice), and many other committees as well. I also regularly attend many of our board meetings, such as the Planning Board, Select Board, and Finance and Warrant Commission. I am well-versed in the current status of projects and issues in town.

I believe that my comprehensive skill set, as well as the many committees that I have served on, put me in a very unique position to serve you as a member of the Select Board.

I would be honored to serve Westwood as a member of the Select Board, and I look forward to hearing about what issues are most important to you over the next several months. Please feel free to reach out to me at votejoe4sb@gmail.com, on my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/votejoe4sb, or via my home phone number, 781-326-1737.
