The Boston Celtics have honored Needham resident, Amy Fradkin, a longtime supporter of cancer research and advocacy, as a Hero Among Us at the team’s home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, March 12th.
Ms. Fradkin had already been committed to finding a cure for cancer for over two decades, riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise funds for life-saving treatments, when in 2020, her husband, Gregg, was diagnosed with lung cancer. She founded Team 3G, her own Pan-Mass Challenge team in Gregg’s honor. Her personal fight became something much greater when Team 3G raised more than $2 million in just five years to support cancer research.
The Boston Celtics first established the Heroes Among Us program in 1997 to recognize outstanding individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to their communities. The award is presented at every Celtics home game.
Thanks to the Boston Celtics for sharing this news with Westwood Minute.
