Westwood's Department of Public Works has announced that its summer paving projects will start on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 and will include the following streets, in order: Booth Drive, Fearing Drive, Hawktree Drive, Magaletta Drive, St. Dennis Drive, Putting Drive, a portion of Strasser Ave and Willard Circle.
These areas will have concrete ramps installed to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. There will be sidewalk work done and milling of existing roadways. Catch basins and manholes will be adjusted and paving will take place.
The work on sidewalks is planned for 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays beginning July 6. The final paving is anticipated to begin the week of July 25, 2022, but is dependent upon weather.
Brendan Ryan, Assistant Public Works Director, also announced that Phillips Brooks Road and Strasser Avenue are areas where Eversource is working on an infrastructure project. He noted that due to Eversource's construction being incomplete, these areas will be paved next spring.
Residents with questions or concerns may contact the Department of Public Works at 781-320-1037.
I completely agree. Washington St. also has some terrible patches, especially the handicap ramps. I don’t understand why the DPW is responsible for clearing sidewalks in front of homes and businesses. It seems that those should be the responsibility of the property owner.
The sidewalks on High Rock and Hartford have been pretty treacherous this winter too. I didn't contact DPW about it though.
Cloudy , with a high of 41 and low of 26 degrees. Overcast during the morning, sunny in the afternoon, partly cloudy during the evening, overcast overnight.
A true hero, though I'm not sure about the naming of the intersection after him. We already have a school named after him. Is there no one else who dedicated their life to this Town that the intersection could be named in memory of?
Thanks for the comment. Perhaps other candidates for a named intersection might be considered by the Select Board if presented with a petition or similar process as what was used here.
