CPSC Issues Separate Recall Alerts: Magic Chef Air Fryers and Ancheer E-bikes Both Subject to Fire and Burn Hazards

On Thursday, October 13, 2022, the Consumer Project Safety Commission (CPSC) issued an alert for the recall of certain models of Magic Chef Air Fryers, due to a potential to overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. CPSC also issued a recall for Ancheer E-bikes, due to their lithium-ion batteries "that can ignite, explode or spark, posing fire, explosion and burn hazards to consumers."

Magic Chef Air Fryer Recall

The recall of the Magic Chef Air Fryer affects approximately 11,750 units sold online through Newair.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com, Amazon.com, and Target.com from July 2018 through September 2020 for between $115 to $138.

The fryers affected in the recall are model numbers MCAF56DB (black) and MCAF56DW (white). "Magic Chef" is printed at the top and a there is a rating label on the bottom of the units that have the Magic Chef brand name and model number. They are approximately 13" x 15"x 14" in size.

CPSC warns that consumers should immediately cease use of these air fryers. A refund or credit of $50 will be given, even without a receipt. Ancheer E-bike Recall

CPSC states, "Ancheer has received six reports of incidents involving fire, explosions, or sparks, including four reports of burn injuries."

There are approximately 22,000 model number AM001907 Ancheer E-bikes that are affected by the recall. The model number can be found on the packaging and instruction manual, but does not appear on the bikes themselves. 

The bikes can be identified by their unique battery that is shaped like a water bottle, 26-inch wheels, black color, and "Ancheer" printed on the downtube.

The affected model was sold online from January 2016 through June 2022 for between $280 and $930. They were sold by www.aliexpress.com, www.ancheer.shop, www.amazon.com, www.ebay.com, www.newegg.com, www.overstock.com, www.rakuten.com, www.sears.com, www.walmart.com and www.wish.com.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the bikes and contact Ancheer for a free replacement battery and battery mount. Ancheer can be reached toll-free at 888-661-1330 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays.
