“Newsies” Takes Center Stage Under the Direction of Sheehan School's Mrs. Maggie

Excitement is building at Sheehan School as students prepare to take the stage this Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 for their highly anticipated production of the musical, Newsies, directed by the talented Mrs. Maggie Narkhede.

Newsies follows charming newsboy Jack Kelly as he leads his fellow newsboys in a strike against powerful newspaper publishers who have raised distribution prices, igniting a city-wide fight for fair wages and better working conditions.

During a dress rehearsal earlier this week, it was evident that Mrs. Narkhede’s dedication to her students and craft is nothing short of extraordinary. Her ability to bring out the best in each young performer, while maintaining a joyful and supportive environment, sets the stage—literally and figuratively—for an unforgettable show.

Mrs. Narkhede’s approach to directing goes beyond just staging a musical; she ensures that every student has the opportunity to shine. With a deep commitment to inclusion, she creates a space where all children can find confidence and joy in their performances.

“Seeing how you carve out a place for every single child to shine through your production is truly heartwarming,” one staff member reflected. “The confidence and joy radiating from these students because of your guidance moved me to tears.”

As opening night approaches, the Sheehan School community is filled with excitement and gratitude for Mrs. Narkhede’s leadership and vision. Her ability to blend professionalism with warmth and encouragement has made a lasting impact on her students, colleagues, and all those fortunate enough to witness the magic of this production.
