Westwood Girls Indoor Track Team turned in some noteworthy performances on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the MIAA Division 3 Indoor Track and Field Championships, taking first place in the 4x400 meter relay and breaking school records in that event as well as in the 4x200 meter relay. Coach Jen Teahan tweeted the record-breaking news.
The first place 4x400 relay team of Ruby Codrington, Olivia O'Neill, Maeve Gavin and Tea Pagnotti finished atop the competition with a time of 4:10.07.
The 2x200 relay team of Katherine Tran, Nyla Bacchus, Olivia O'Neill, and Ruby Codrington broke the school record while placing fifth in their event with a time of 1:49.76.
Also of special note was the performance turned in by Tea Pagnotti, a freshman who also took fourth place in the mile. She finished with a time of 5:22.79, behind the first three finishers who were seniors.
The Girls Indoor Track Team finished the state competition in ninth place, overall.
I am in complete support of the refurbishing and reopening of Norwood Hospital. I was working at Saint Elizabeth during this time. When steward took over our HOSPITAL group, Caritas Christie. They decimated not only our hospitals, but also two hospitals in the tiny nation of Malta.

Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
