From around 2:30 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, Westwood experienced rain, lightning, thunder, and small, pea-sized hail.

The hail could be observed in patches, on the wet ground, lasting for more than two hours after falling. This pattern of accumulation could be due to hail falling in a "path," which the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration terms "hail swaths."

The overall precipitation for the day in Westwood was around half an inch.
