The Westwood Cultural Council, part of the larger Massachusetts Cultural Council, has awarded eleven grants for this year's grant cycle. The grants were awarded based on the qualifications of the group or individual seeking the grant and the benefit to the community.
The Council has funded, either whole or in part, a variety of projects:
- The Council on Aging has received funding for a new watercolor painting class concentrating on nature, as well as funds to present an art show displaying these paintings.
- The Westwood Public Library received funds to present a program featuring a Chinese acrobat.
- WestwoodWinds Community Band received money which will help to fund its concert season.
- Westwood Indian American Association was given money to help with the cost of the Diwali Festival.
- Pine Hill School received money to fund author visits.
- Sheehan School received money to help fund its Cultural Festival.
- Westwood Integrated Preschool will be visiting Drumlin Farm.
- Poets in the Schools program will also continue to be funded.
- Westwood School Engagement Committee received money to pay for a Moderator/Presenter for its program.
- Westwood Welcome Club received money for its Snow Scape Challenge.
The Council will be accepting applications in October this year for the FY2025 grant cycle. For more information go to www.mass-culture..org.
