The Dedham-Westwood Water District has received a $139,556 Gap Energy Grant from the Healey-Driscoll Administration's Department of Environmental Protection and Clean Energy Results Program, announced the water district on March 16th.
The water district says it will use the grant to install energy efficiency measures at two facilities. As part of the construction of a new Burgess Avenue Booster Water Pump Station, it plans to install energy efficiency upgrades, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to reduce energy consumption during non-peak demand, mini-spilits for heating and cooling, and LED lighting fixtures. At the White Lodge Water Treatment Plant, it will install solar panels.
"Once these energy conservation measures are in place at both buildings, we estimate our energy savings to be approximately 50,751 kilowatt-hours per year," said Dedham-Westwood Water District Executive Director Blake Lukis.
The Gap Energy Grant helps fill the last "gap" in project financing. Recipients can combine these grants with utility incentives and other funding sources to build or install energy efficiency and clean energy projects that might otherwise be delayed or not implemented.
