Newton Community Pride hosts a weekend of free, accessible winter activities, open to all at various Newton locations.
On Friday, January 24th, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., attendees are invited to bring a donation of a new or gently used blanket and enjoy a view ice sculptures, a live ice carving demonstration, and light displays from a Glow Hula Hooper.
On Saturday, January 25th, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., there's a dog-friendly guided winter walk, winter storytime, community soup social, and an interactive light art installation.
On Sunday, January 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., crafts, a photo booth, and dancing are on the schedule. There's also a free screening of Happy Feet at the West Newton Cinema.

These are great strides in addressing concerns about a lack of openness and two way dialogue raised by Westwood citizens. Thanks to the Select Board and to Mr. Read for listening and acting.

In promulgating the public comment policy, the Select Board has taken a big step towards showing willingness to engage in conversation with Westwood residents about the many important issues at hand—currently, the Fire Station 1 and the budget.
