On Friday, June 2nd, members of Westwood High School’s Class of 2023 took part in a “farewell tour” of the town’s five elementary schools just days before graduation. More than 200 seniors climbed onto a bright yellow school bus wearing their green graduation gowns and were driven to each of the district’s elementary schools – Deerfield, Downey, Hanlon, Martha Jones and Sheehan where they then processed down the halls to the cheers of students, teachers and staff.

The district hopes to make this an annual tradition, but it will be the last time students would be able to walk the halls at Deerfield and Hanlon since those two schools are closing next year.

“It was a special moment for our seniors, particularly those who had attended either the Deerfield or Hanlon Schools, since it’s the last time any senior class will walk those halls,” said Aishleen Flanagan, Westwood High School Dean of Students.
