The fallen leaves and the first frost prove that the fall and winter heating season is upon us, and Westwood Community Chest (WCC) has launched its annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors fundraising campaign. The organization says its campaign is an attempt to replenish the funds it awards to struggling Westwood residents for home heating and other pressing expenses.
With inflation and increasing costs of life essentials like groceries, utilities, and medications, WCC says its Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign will ensure grant awards remain available to Westwood residents who need help to get back on their feet.
WCC is a volunteer-run non-profit organization that provides temporary, financial assistance to Westwood residents through confidential grant awards. Money raised by WCC is directly applied to utility bills, mortgages, rent payments, medicine, groceries, transportation and more. Applicants are struggling individuals, families, children, their parents, and the elderly who reside in Westwood.
Those wishing to learn more about WCC and its Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign, and/or to apply for a WCC financial assistance grant can visit the WCC website at https://westwoodcommunitychest.org.

These are great strides in addressing concerns about a lack of openness and two way dialogue raised by Westwood citizens. Thanks to the Select Board and to Mr. Read for listening and acting.
Thank you Ms. Galkowski for this thoughtful acknowledgement of positive steps being made by our Town government. My generation loves the positive empowerment. Exemplary.
In promulgating the public comment policy, the Select Board has taken a big step towards showing willingness to engage in conversation with Westwood residents about the many important issues at hand—currently, the Fire Station 1 and the budget.
