The suspect Joshua Hinds, whom Needham and Stow Police warned was "distraught" and "armed and dangerous," has been captured and arrested by Waltham Police, announced Needham Police Chief John Schlittler and and Stow Police Chief Michael Sallese, shortly before 5:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18th.
Waltham Police made the arrest early Monday morning and was planning to book him.
Late Sunday evening, December 17th, Needham and Stow police departments had issued a public alert, advising anyone seeing Mr. Hinds to exercise extreme caution and to call 911 instead of approaching him. Mr. Hinds reportedly had shown a firearm to someone he knows, and was thought to have multiple firearms in his possession. He reportedly made threats to harm himself and others.
Thanks to Needham Police Department and Stow Police Department for sharing this news with Westwood Minute.
Patchy rain nearby, with a high of 48 and low of 31 degrees. Don't forget your umbrella! Overcast during the morning, light drizzle overnight.
These are great strides in addressing concerns about a lack of openness and two way dialogue raised by Westwood citizens. Thanks to the Select Board and to Mr. Read for listening and acting.
Thank you Ms. Galkowski for this thoughtful acknowledgement of positive steps being made by our Town government. My generation loves the positive empowerment. Exemplary.
In promulgating the public comment policy, the Select Board has taken a big step towards showing willingness to engage in conversation with Westwood residents about the many important issues at hand—currently, the Fire Station 1 and the budget.
