The first of three public meetings for the community to learn about project details for Westwood's proposed new Fire Station 1 will be held at Westwood's Main Library on Tuesday, February 4th, at 6:00 p.m., said Westwood Deputy Administrator Molly Fitzpatrick early this week.
According to Town of Westwood officials, the project will enhance public safety by replacing a currently outdated and deteriorating facility. The proposed new fire station will replace the existing Fire Station 1, which was built in 1948 and last renovated and expanded in 1975. Officials state that the new, modern facility will be able to address shortcomings of the current facility in providing public protection.
This project will be brought to a vote at the upcoming Town Meeting on Monday, May 19th, and subsequently at the election on June 3rd.
Thanks to Westwood Deputy Town Administrator Molly Fitzpatrick for sharing this news with Westwood Minute.

It is false to assume a large majority of voters want the Select Board to withdraw. You can only say that the majority who showed up wanted to say that. According to Google AI, the average turnout at annual town meetings is 3.9% from 2018-2025, this was 4.6%.
