Coming up from now through the middle of next week are events with a local focus as well as events that turn our attention to the cosmos.
Thursday, January 29th is a day for the civic-minded. There's a 4:00 p.m. Q&A session at the Senior Center hosted by Westwood residents on the topic of Special Town Meeting, and a 7:00 p.m. opportunity to converse with the Fire Station 1 Steering Committee at the library.
Had enough of town politics? Head over to Medfield for a social painting event that's BYO libation of choice, or to Newtonville for a performance of Thornton Wilder's Our Town.
Got something you need fixed? Take it to the Repair Cafe at Dover's Caryl Community Center, where local fixers will attempt to help you with the problem while you enjoy snacks and a chat with neighbors.
On Saturday - and again on Wednesday - history buffs and those with an interest in space have opportunities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Challenger tragedy at the Christa McAuliffe Center in Framingham.
