Thanks to Dr. Lynne Viti for contributing this news to Westwood Minute.
On April 28, 2022, students at Westwood's Martha Jones School were treated to a poetry writing workshop by Dr. Jenn Bogard. Dr. Bogard is currently lecturer at Lesley University and previously was an elementary school teacher. She is also author of books that includes children's titles such as The ABCs of Plum Island, Massachusetts, B is for Beach Plums, and C is for Clipper.
Dr. Bogard's visit, along with a visit the same day by poet and performer Mr. Regie Gibson to Westwood High School, marked April as National Poetry Month. Both events were funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and Westwood Cultural Council, obtained by Westwood poet and resident Dr. Lynne Viti.
Dr. Bogard presented two mini workshops to second and third grade students during the morning and afternoon, and she also answered questions during the lunch break. Below are photos from her visit with Martha Jones School students., courtesy of Dr. Viti.

Sunny, with a high of 41 and low of 28 degrees. Sunny during the morning, clear for the afternoon and evening,
Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
What is the citizen's petition about? I checked the town website, and the only information I could find on town meeting articles was from last year. The public hearing dates for 2026 are posted as February 24-25.
Apparently, you need to submit a public records request through the town's FOIA portal. What a shame, since it should have been posted to the town website upon certification of petition signatures.
Westwood Minute has obtained a copy of the petition and has added a short description of it to the article. A copy of the petition is attached below the article.
