How to Participate in Town Government - Week of June 5, 2022

Below are ways to participate in upcoming meetings of town government. Some highlights include:

Select Board's meeting on Monday includes updates and/or discussion on Pride Month, Juneteenth, the Long Range Financial Planning Committee, and an upcoming Hale Task Force Public Meeting on June 14, 2022.

Additionally, there are many public hearings going on this week.  The Personnel Board will hold a public hearing on Tuesday on amending holiday policies for personnel. Planning Board and the Conservation Commission will hear environmental and design issues related to a new gas station on Providence Highway, among other topics, on Tuesday. Also, the Conservation Commission meets again on Wednesday for another set of public hearings and to discuss a potential Conservation Land Management Plan and a tree policy/ordinance/bylaw, among other things.


MONDAY, JUNE 6, 2022

Select Board Meeting via Zoom, Monday, June 6, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. The Chair will give updates on topics including Pride Month, Juneteenth Celebration at Hale, and the Hale Task Force Public Meeting on June 14, 2022. The board will enter an Executive Session to discuss three issues regarding contract negotiations with union personnel and return to open session. There will be a public hearing on a common victualler license for Muffin House Café. Additional topics of discussion include the Long Range Financial Planning Committee, a Comprehensive Plan update, acceptances of awards, Notice for Acting and Temporary Town Administrator and a police chief contract.

Dedham-Westwood Water District General Business Meeting via Zoom, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. The agenda includes a discussion of rate changes, the treasurer’s report, business operating reports, operations manager report, and executive direction report that includes a PFAS sampling update. Also, there will be an Executive Session to discuss bargaining agreement negotiation strategy.

Planning Board Meeting via Zoom, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. The Planning Board will hold three public hearings on : (1) Environmental Impact & Design Review (EIDR) of a proposed gas station and convenience store at 394 & 396 Providence Highway; (2) alterations to a stone wall at 500 Sandy Valley Road that affect land in the adjacent public right-of-way; and (3) Earth Material Movement EIDR of a proposed in-ground pool and site redevelopment at 122 Wilsondale Street. In addition to oral comments raised during the public hearings, advance written comments for are accepted by email at least three business days ahead of the hearing. Written comments can be sent to nloughnane@townhall.westwood.ma.us.

The board will also introduce the new Town Planner, John Charbonneau and discussion a proposed ANR plan for 5 Noannet Circle and updates from agency and committee representatives, along with “general miscellaneous updates.”

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2022

Annual Council on Aging Meeting, Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. This in-person meeting will be held at the Westwood Senior Center at 60 Nahatan Street in Westwood. Topics include board membership and a vote for leadership, the director’s report on finances, programs, outreach, building and transportation, the tax work off program and personnel. The Friends Budget for FY2023 will also be discussed.


Conservation Commission Public Hearing, Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. The commission will hold public hearings on (1) a “Right of Way – Request for Determination – TEC Assoc.” which appears to be related to vegetation control; and (2) mitigation planting at 375-395 University Avenue. It will also discuss a potential Conservation Land Management Plan and a tree policy/ordinance/bylaw, among other things.

The Commission will also take action on a Request for Certificate of Compliance at 7 Little Boot Lane (DEP #338-0635) and a Request for Minor Modification at 748 Gay Street (DEP #338-0732).
