On Saturday, April 13th, Eddie’s Food Drive wrapped up it’s sixth Food Drive in support of the Westwood Food Pantry. Providing meals for others was an important cause to Eddie Thomson who passed away at the age on six on November 21, 2017. Eddie’s family and supporters continue this beautiful tradition by organizing the annual drive in his honor.

This year’s drive once again brought in enough food to fill the Pantry’s shelves for the upcoming months. Monetary donations exceeded over $5000 and will be used to buy supplemental food and household supplies for Pantry clients.

The Westwood Girl Scouts kicked off the drive by donating hundreds of boxes of Girl Scout cookies in early April; a sweet treat for the pantry’s many clients. The Westwood Public Schools, The Westwood Public Library, the Tobin School, Shalom Corner at Temple Beth David and businesses including Roche Bros and Coldwell Banker hosted collection bins during the drive. The Food Pantry board appreciates the tremendous generosity and hard work of all that contributed to this wonderful event, with a very special thank you to Eddie’s family. All of these efforts bring much needed food and supplies to our neighbors in need.
