Thanks for Whittier Street Health Center for contributing this news to Westwood Minute.

On June 25, 2022, Westwood resident Keith D. Crawford, MD, PhD, was recognized by Whittier Street Health Center for his active role in furthering community health at the center's twenty-second annual Men’s Health Summit: Building Resiliency, Community, and Hope, held in Boston.

Dr. Crawford is a director of clinical trials and education at Prostate Health Education Network. He was honored alongside two business executives, an attorney and a health ambassador.

The Summit addressed the timely and pertinent topic of men’s mental health in communities of color, with particular focus on the current state of youth mental health in the United States.
The Summit covered topics such as barriers to men seeking mental health treatment, including the traditional notions of masculinity and cultural stigma associated with mental health. Dr. Crawford participated as a panelist on this subject.

“Open, honest, and genuine discussions were a highlight of this year’s Men’s Health Summit,” said Frederica M. Williams, president and CEO of Whittier Street Health Center.
