The Town of Sharon celebrates Independence Day with a Children's Parade, pie eating contest, fireworks and more:
4:00 p.m. (arrive 3:45 p.m.) Children's Parade from Beach Street Park. Bring a decorated bike/stroller.
4:15 p.m. Family entertainment featuring Mad Science at bandstand, food truck fair, carnival games, train rides, activities from local community organizations
6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Live music
8:00 p.m. Pie Eating Contest (adults only) on bandstand lawn. Its free to register and enter, and the victor wins $50.
9:15 p.m. Fireworks fired from barge on Lake Massapoag.
(Note: Swimming is generally not allowed at the beach during the event, after 5:00 p.m.)

These are great strides in addressing concerns about a lack of openness and two way dialogue raised by Westwood citizens. Thanks to the Select Board and to Mr. Read for listening and acting.
In promulgating the public comment policy, the Select Board has taken a big step towards showing willingness to engage in conversation with Westwood residents about the many important issues at hand—currently, the Fire Station 1 and the budget.
