Thanks to The Plugged In Band Program for contributing this news to Westwood Minute
The Plugged In Band Program has always been a vibrant, inclusive music community within itself and now, with support from an Arc of Mass Pathways to Friendship Community Bridging Grant, the entire community can take part in playing or listening to music live!
Come to the free Pathways to Music monthly Open Mic on the third Thursday of every month from 6-8 PM at the Center at the Heights at 300 Hillside Ave. in Needham, beginning December 21, 2023. All ages, all abilities and all musical skills are welcome. There will be free pizza, along with puzzles and crafts to encourage collaboration and conversations. This is a great opportunity to make music and friends.
This is the perfect stop on your way home from the end of your day: grab a slice, hear some great music, and make new friends. Or brave the stage and show us what you’ve got!
We will provide a full backline with drums, guitars, bass, keyboards and drums. We just need you!
“Plugged In has been hosting open mic nights for many years, and through our partnership with The Arc Pathways to Friendship, we can bring our successful concept to the public for all to enjoy.”
For Plugged In students, the partnership with The Arc allows Plugged In to expand social and performance opportunities outside of the band room and provide a forum to further solidify friendships by hosting free and inclusive open mics for community members of all ages and abilities on a monthly basis.
Pathways to Friendship is a collaborative initiative of The Arc of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services to advance the development of projects that promote relationships-friendships between people with and without disabilities,
