The nomination period has opened for this year's R.A.Y. (Recognize-A-Youth) Award, a recognition bestowed upon young people in the Westwood community who have demonstrated a commitment to helping others.

Community members can fill out an online nomination form through March 31, 2024. Any staff member, student or community member can submit a nomination for consideration. Family members of WY&FS, its board of advisors and the Westwood Rotary are not eligible. Nominations must be submitted by someone other than a family member.

Since 2001, Westwood Youth & Family Services and the Westwood Rotary Club have partnered together to celebrate a young person who is making a difference.Recipients will be honored at a Rotary event, given a certificate of appreciation and a small gift. This year’s event will be held in the late Spring.

Past recipients have been honored for acts of kindness both large and small. Recipients have been awarded for tutoring an elementary school neighbor, creating a social media campaign to end stereotypes, organizing a classic movie club at the Council on Aging and designing and selling bracelets to fundraise for a local non-profit. The 2023 Recipients were: Greydon Gavin, Hank Murray, Bridget O’Sullivan and Sreemayi Reddy.
